so my move yesterday…yay it’s over! we’re in the new place, i love it and am just stressing about how quickly I can unpack. but yesterday was a shit of a day…i took the day off because they were supposed to arrive at 11. no one has showed up by 11:30, so i call and am told that my move wasn’t scheduled to happen from 11-1 rather my movers are going to arrive sometime between 11-1. not happy, but take that opportunity to watch an ep of mad men and think of the glass half full.
by 2pm, no one has come…the glass is looking less and less full by the minute. i literally have nothing out in my apartment except my computer (thank goodness!) and ruby. who is starving because i took away her food so she wouldn’t have to poop since i packed her litter box that morning. the moving company claims it’s just bad traffic and that the first job “took a little longer than expected” but they’ll be there soon.
4PM. Maggie = livid. i’ve now wasted a whole day AND am not going to get to the new apartment at a decent hour. this is when the handy man tells me that a plane landed on the highway. this news is the only thing that gives me a shred of forgivneness towards them, as all traffic on 495 in boston yesterday was shut down. obvi. call the moving company, who has no idea that the movers still haven’t arrived. i not so politely inform them that i will not be paying the full amount and if they charge my credit card before i speak to a manager tomorrow i will call the better business bureau.
4:08 PM:the actual driver of the truck coming to my house says he’ll be there in 15 minutes
5:00: not there …
5:15: not there…
5:37: not there…
5:51: not there…
6:08: ARRIVE. Again, Maggie = livid and while I am trying with all my might to keep in mind that it’s not these guys fault, it’s a struggle. He also informs me that since it is so late& the office is closed that I need to pay the $600ish balance in cash. False.com. We get into a fight (pretty proud of myself for holding my ground and demanding money off). I win. They move my shit, it takes the estimated three hours and they are out of my life at 9:01PM.
Everything arrives in one piece, safe and sound and now I have the unpleasant task of realizing that my new room is significantly smaller than my old room, so my craft table is in serious jeopardy…All in all, super psyched to be there, just want to have some serious time to unpack and make it home!!
